Considering buying 2003 V70 - LESS concern V70-XC70

I had a look at a 2006-7 version of the quoted Lemon-Aid book which I had at home. Interestingly, the author (Edmonston) gives the V70's a rating of 4/5 for reliability (by 2011-12 edition, he rates it 2/5, which I assume relates to the fact that those cars are older by now and require more work...). None of the other comments seem any different. Based on that, I think the book's opinion on the V70 may be currently a bit misleading to potential buyers.

So: given that, and also the positive personal reviews I've had from a few people I've contacted about the V70, I've decided to re-explore that possibility. But will stay away from AWD models, and try to get a reasonably simple, low mileage, well maintained FWD wagon.
