Bulb failure warning light ALL ALL

A Volvo owner writing to a motoring column in today's (London, England) Sunday Telegraph claims that every Volvo he has owned for the last 15 years has come equipped with a warning light for the failure of any major bulb. Judging by the amount of Brickboard traffic recently about problems where a bulb failure, such as headlight or turn indicator bulb, was previously unnoticed, is there any truth historically or currently to the newspaper claim or is Volvo being given undeserved kudos for safety?
