I believe this is true. However, due to customer complaint (non-OEM bulb issues only though) they removed this feature, at least in the S40. Now the bulb out light only works for stop lights. I think this is goofy, people can spend an extra $1 on bulbs for this feature, or replace in pairs... I'm not sure if this is changed in the S60/80 or V70 though... 240's had the light out indicator for any light for the life of the car I believe, I know our '78 245 and 89 245 did...

There's also the rapid turn signal that happens when a turn signal bulb burns out. I haven't read all the recent posts about the issue though, so I'm a little behind.
