Trailer wiring 850 1994

It seems that I've been voted the one to put a hitch and wiring onto my parents' 855T despite only knowing RWD Volvos. Because I want everything to be easily reversible (and idiot-proof), I asked them to look into the factory harness instead of using piggyback type connectors. Unfortunately, the dealer just called and told my father that the harness is long and involved and not a DIY item.

Maybe since we are on summer vacation with no real internet access, I haven't been able to find any good info about this. Has anyone done it? Is this true? Some things online seem to point to an easy plug-in in the cargo area.

If it *is* something that has to be run from the engine compartment, does anyone have any pics of such an endeavor? I have no problem digging into Volvos, but I am away from home with limited tools so if it is too much, I'll find a different solution.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
