Potential New Owner - '98 V70 with a P0442 and an oil leak V70-XC70

Hi guys

I am looking at picking up a '98 V70 GLT in need of a couple repairs. Ironically, I am not worried about the big issues, but it comes with two smaller issues:

1. An ongoing P0442 problem that's apparently been plaguing the car for about three years. Seems not too bad.
2. An apparently massive oil leak. The car has been sitting for a few months and there is quite a puddle of oil under it - generally in the crank pulley area. It's hard to say how much is the leak and how much is a bad attempt to refill the oil, but how prone are the crank seals and oil pan gaskets to failure on these cars? Neither sounds particularly fun to do in any case.

Any other advice, things to check out?
