Need Help with ETM Replacement... S80 1999

You're fixated on the idea that a used one will break immediately. I think perhaps you are not aware that volvo released a redesigned ETM with a yellow label on the side. These were updated and improved design to reduce the failure rate. They only made these starting around 2007 or so. Meaning the used unit I purchased is at most only 4 years old.

Keeping that in mind and the fact that I got it at a very economical price, it would seem buying used is not a totally bad idea. You are probably thinking I bought a used original OEM unit manufactured in 1999 or something, in which case you would be right to say it would likely fail as soon as my existing original ETM. Do you see where I'm coming from now? it would seem you have alterier motive to push xemodex units. The xemodex unit looks nice but man $700 out of pocket?

This car might only be in my hands another 3-4 years. I'm not planning to keep it for another decade. LMKWUT

Thanks
