1995 Volvo 850 Wagon - Lamda Sond Light is on and intermittent stalling 850

Hi all,

My Lamda sond light (the one with the greek lamda symbol inside a triange) has recently come on and stays. Ever since it came on, I will have intermittent stalling on the road. Car starts fine after stall and usually no more stalls until the next time I use the car. I also notice that the problem seems worse when the A/C is on and I'm getting an exhaust smell as well with the A/C on. Is all of this related?
