LOST COOLANT, THEN OIL LIGHT STARTED FLICKERING AT IDLE 850 1996

The heater core is about 1 hour DIY, clean up will be much longer because antifreeze doesn't dry up and is now soaked into the foam under your carpet.

The coolant always flows through the heater core, heat on or off. So your engine lost a lot of coolant from the top end. The oil probably overheated, became very thin from heat, and the oil pump lost pressure. With the smoke coming out of the tail pipe, I would guess a headgasket failed.
