Questions on overdue Strut/Shcok replacements V70-XC70 2006

We are in desperate need of replacing the Front struts and shocks. V70 2006. The original stock items started feeling a bit sloppy around 50-60k. Now here we are at 100k and its time!! Very many choices!!?? Boge, Meyle KYB’s Adjustable ….what do you recommend over OEM (Sachs I believe)? I can tell you that the primary driver may just want a normal Smooth ride over the worn shocks! Most likely stick with OEM. Please nothing as stiff as a Bilsteins sport. However Bilstiens touring is supposed to be much like stock? Any other suggestions on other parts while I have things apart other than the spring seats (Someone mentioned using XC seats, A bit more heavy duty)?
How do you know when you need new springs other than a busted one? I am also willing to check out other sources on where to get them besides FCP Groton (They do seem to have fair prices)? Grateful and appreciated!
