LOST COOLANT 850 1996

OK, here is what to do next. Get a section of heater hose and connect the 2 loose ends under the dash (easier than trying to bypass infront of the firewall). Pour in 2 gallons of distilled water, cheaper than antifreeze and you will replace it before winter anyway.

Flush the oil and look on the bottom for antifreeze/water. Replace oil with cheap 10W30 and a good filter.

Run the engine to get things warmed up. You know the water pump needs replacing, so no high speed revving - keep it under 3,000. Verify the oil pressure is good. Get a compression test and test it with the engine warm, not hot. All cylinders should be 170-180psi.

If things look good at this point, order: Tbelt, tensioner roller, water pump, heater core & O rings. Use a good antifreeze and synthetic engine oil. Monitor oil and antifreeze for the first 1,000 miles.
