I asked this same question to my uncle, whom has worked as a mech at the same Volvo dealer for 38 years, and he said it is very normal on Volvo's and you should worry you. I only get this when I park my Volvo outside, overnight, and it's cold. Either that whining noise when it's really cold or that anoying ticking when it's medium cold during a startup.
