Using ATF 4 in a Volvo? S70

Trying to find a good ATF fluid to do a flush with and I was reading about an "ATF 4" fluid that is patented by Chrysler. It apparently has synthetic qualities at the price of regular ATF. Can I run this kind of fluid in my automatic trans?
I know that we are supposed to use Dexron III but that is no longer supported by GM so the quality is no longer guaranteed.
