Eating brake pads? S40-V40 2001

Hi all! How long do you normally expect frond and rear brake pads to last? Our S40 had new front pads less than 2 years ago and new rears less than 1 year ago. We're down to 5% on the front and low on the rear too. We drive about 15k miles per year. Does this seem unusual? We drive lots of highway and we do not ride brakes, we've never has brake pads wear this fast on any other car. New tires this year too (Yokohoma).
