Often, the minimum rotor thickness is stamped on the outer edge of the rotor.

When you say it appears that the original thickness was 30mm, I assume you are talking about the front (vented) rotors. I just had to replace the rear (unvented - solid)rotors on my V70. The minimum thickness was stamped 10mm, but they measured about 9.5mm before any machining was even done.
