S80 T6 AWD Rear End Whine S80 2008

Hi,
I have an 08 S80 T6 AWD with 60k miles. I have what I describe as a low frequency whine from the rear end, especially noticeable at highway speeds. I have Michelin tires all around and I don't notice this from the front end. Does anyone know if this is "normal" are there any problem areas for this model/year in the rear end? I don't seem to have any clunking/grinding noises that would indicate a CV joint, just the whine.
Also, how would I go about checking the rear differential fluid? I crawled under the car and don't see much in the way of a drain plug/fill hole on the unit.
Thanks.
