OK, I've read a ton of posts lately regarding transmission problems for some owners and now here I am with my own set. About a month and a half ago I had a cold transmission problem that seemed to only occur every so often on the first start of the day. What happened was I would start up the car and warm-up for maybe 10-15 seconds then drive slowly out of my neighborhood (I've always done this for the life the car). Every so often on these mornings, the car would refuse to shift out of first gear until either the car warmed up a bit more (maybe another 5 to 10 seconds of running 2K on the tach because it refused to shift into 2nd) or if I used the gear selector and shift down to 2nd momentarily and then back into D. I had the tranny fluid flushed not too long after this problem started (maybe a month ago) but it still happens although it is rare (maybe 3-4 times thus far after the flush). I've also noticed recently that my reverse lights don't always come on when I shift into reverse. But they do sometimes and when they don't, I can usually coax them to light up if I wiggle the shifter a bit. What I want to know is, are these two problems that I've described related at all? Is it just the PNP switch that'll fix this or is my problem more catastrophic (in price & headaches), perhaps signaling the start of a malfunctioning tranny?
Anyone who has had these problems or have had their PNP switches replaced recently, please let me know of your experience. Oh, and all the Volvo techs of course, your help is always appreciated.
