To buy, or not to buy? V70-XC70 2001

You don't list the mileage but if one strut is bad you need both. And new spring seats.

If the boot on the CV is split you're better off replacing the whole thing. These things are highly precise inside and the tiniest bit of contamination will ruin them. If it's been leaking (in AND out) for any amount of time you need a whole shaft or you'll just end up doing it later anyway. The perfect time to do this is when the strut is out.

The oil leaking around the driveshaft seal is not a big deal in and of itself (the seal is easy to replace - again easiest to do it when the strut is out as well) but the bigger issue here is the effect of low transmission fluid level on that transmission, which we all know to be suspect due to the model year.

TWC code could get very expensive for you.

Timing belt quickly turns in to a lot of money - belt, tensioner, rollers, water pump? (and if you do water pump you might as well change the thermostat and flush the coolant for good measure, and on a car this old you might think about new rad and heater hoses while the coolant is out)....

If you're a DIYer and you've got some time and patience and you don't have to spend too much money to get it this could maybe be a good car for you. But I personally would run away from it.
