Leaking Coolant Resevoir V70-XC70 2000

My 2000 V70 XC wagon had the coolant light on again today. It's been doing this often when first starting it up in the morning.

After work I looked closely under the hood and could see that there is a lot of white powder building up at the spout where a small rubber hose connects to the plastic coolant resevoir on the right side of the engine bay.

These parts all all original and un-modified. I was just wondering if the hose or the plastic resevoir was a common point of failure for this year? The hose would be a cheap repair but a cracked resevoir would be a little more.

Thanks
