Would PNP switch cause backup lights not to work? 850 1995

So, would a failing PNP switch cause my backup lights not to work when the car is cold? When I start my car and it's cold out (between 35-45F) my backup lights will not come on until the car has warmed up, then they work fine. No codes as of yet. Also, I've noticed that after a lot (a 'lot' being an hour or so) of continued stop-and-go driving, sometimes the tranny won't do the 2-3 shift until I get the RPMs way high, like 3500-4000 RPM. I had my tranny replaced, and this still occurs. Would these be a PNP switch issues? Thanks.
