Concerns over 7,500 oil change interval? S60 2007

So, I find it a little conceding that:

a. the owners guide and also dealer state standard dino oil for a car with a turbo...as "normal"
b. taking the above concern into consideration...the fact that the change interval is 7,500 per the book.

Call me old school but I cannot see this as being a good idea. I acquired an 07 S60 and plan to get a few more miles out of the recent dealer oil change using Kendall dino oil and will change over to Mobil 1 0W40 or Penzoil Ultra...

Is it just me or does a 7500 mile interval using dino oil seem absolutely crazy? I guess on paper it lowers the cost of maintenance but for those of us who keep cars for a while I'd imagine such a long interval will surely end in a coked turbo bearing, royally clogged PCV system, and the list goes on...

Steve
