S70 Opinions-Additional S70 1999

Saw the thread below re 70 Series opinions. We have an 85 240 and an 87 740 non turbos, both at 300K and are faithful servants (DUH!). Happened to see a silver '99 S70 at a used car dealer on a drive-by. Have been considering upgrading my wife's 87 just because it's getting long of tooth. A Northern CO Volvo mech shop recommended the 98-00 S70s as good solid prospects if we could find one. Saw the comment below not to buy a '99 with a couple reasons. This one has had several owners but only has 108K, nonturbo, non AWD which is my pref for at least some simplicity. Car is clean, not a cream puff. Only worn area is the center armrest vinyl. Check engine light was diagnosed as both O2 sensors. Only major concern is a slight shudder moving off from stop. CV joint/half shaft worn maybe? Auto shifts well, dipstick and inside of rocker cover fairly clean. Dealer provided CARFAX sheet with no collision damages reported. Don't like the complications of more computer controls and a TIGHT engine bay but realize it is guaranteed with anything newer and front drive. Colorado Springs used car dealer gave drive away price as $3200. It's half our '87s age and 200K less miles. Further opinions or cautions? Thanks.

Roger
