S70 Opinions-Additional S70 1999

Thank you, Klaus, for your response. The asking price is $3990. The $3200 is drive-away cash price. IPD wants $250 for the top O2 and $150 for the downstream. Didn't ck the trans dipstick, should have. CARFAX said it was imported to NJ and sold in Jan 99. By '02 was in CA. By Mar '10 it wound up in C/S at the Air Force Academy. It was traded in at a CarMax lot and the current dealer got it by auction. I Googled the 99 S70s and got several posts via edmunds.com and the majority were VERY negative for reliability of the 99s. ETM/ETC, ABS failures, light burnouts, electronics, dealer incompetence, "great car...when it runs", etc. Only a few said "great car, no problems, had it a long time, would buy another". Those were rare. Surprising for Volvo. Several said that was the era that Ford ruined Volvo. Not sure what to think. We love our rear-driver bricks. Just reluctant to trust the 740 for out of area trips due to aging electronics and an aging auto trans...the S70 fits criteria, but hesitant that it's not a cream puff and 5 owners and the large number of negative experiences. Sad that Volvos may no longer be "bricks" Sigh. Thanks for your input and I appreciate your opinions! Still thinking...
