S70 Opinions-Additional S70 1999

As I said, this was a "happen to see" drive by. It fit my general qualifications but wasn't the one owner "cream puff" I'm holding out for. As you say, computers run most everything nowadays and there's no getting away from them. From edmunds.com it seems Volvo in those years went into territory it may not have been ready for and some things were untried, hence the electronic problems reported. I remember a couple of years ago I saw a local XC70, one owner, 100K miles, a '98. A cream puff. Others on the board were contemplating the same year of the AWD and were advised that the model up through 01 was a maintenance hog and had a bad power-takeoff unit to the rear axle. Prone to often fail. I checked with the local COS dealer and they confirmed that the bevel drive to the rear was a bad design that was changed for 02. Glad I didn't go there either. It pays to do research. I will expand my search and watch for later years and models. Liking the S60 if I can find the right car, again somewhat of a cream puff that's had proper care and not driven hard. They're out there and when the time is right...

Thanks again for your input. I may pass on this S70. Just doesn't feel right.

Roger
