oil changes 850 1996

Hi folks!

When doing an oil change, how much oil can one pour into a turbo engine without going over the max mark. I have found that the dipstick can vary wildly from when the engine is warm to when it has sat over night. If you filled the engine to the half way mark on the dipstick when warm, would it be at the max mark when sitting overnight?

Hope this isn't too much of a silly question.
