Re: Ignition Timing 850 1994

I put in a set of Torque Master plugs which dropped fuel mileage from 24 to 22. Had plugs in for 3 mounths. Thought it might be a change in gas(winterized stuff this state is known to mess with). Then I had a talk with Maurice, the gentlemen that holds the patent on the plug design, and he said to advance the timing 4 degrees. This all came about after I pulled the TM plugs, which have perfect coloration, and put the originals back in and mileage popped back up to 24. The TMs are noted for improving mileage, loving fuel, lasting long and being able to handle more advance. It's amazing a simple plug change can make such a difference.

Did find on the web that timing range is between 4 to 8 degrees. I'm assuming this is the range of adjustment that the ECU can handle.

Note: the 22 to 24 and back happens within 20 minutes of steady driving per plug set change.
