Breaks S70 98

My S70 seems to eat breaks. Additionally, the breaks develop a rumble after hard breaking. By hard I mean after extended applicaiton down hill or when the car is loaded with people. Is this a common problem? If so, what has been done to address it.

I've considered going to slotted and drilled rotors but have no idea if that would help. I saw that type of rotor at the dealership display.
