Engine Hood S70 2000

This problem has pleged me for several years now. The hand release under
under the dash driver side won't release the hood. When it happens, I then
need another person to help open my hood. Them pulling the hanlde and me pressing down
on the hood and then opening it.
Asked my volvo guy about it several times; he tries to make some adjustment
and the something about a body shop to weld something. This is intermitent
but nevertheless a pain........any thought about an easy fix...I
can't have the only volvo with this problem.
