Struts. OEM gas charged? 850 1995

Are the OEM struts gas charged to help prevent bottoming? When crossing rutted asphalt at an intersection, or shallow pot holes, the jolt from the front suspension slams through the cabin like I just ran over a curb.

Probably time to replace the struts with 175,000 miles but I'm curious if the OEM had any bottoming bumper or gas charging to prevent the crash.

I've read a lot about how the aftermarket has suffered with name products now made cheaply. What's the recommendation for an OEM ride replacement? Boge? Sachs? Don't want to spend a fortune as I'll also be buying seats, bearings, maybe control arm bushings, etc.
