Re: Check Engine Light 850 1995

That's been my experience. I bought my '96 850 just after the 60k-mike tune-up, and the light had just been reset. I'm about to turn 100k miles and the check engine light has been on for 30000 miles with no problem. I'm not going to pay $70 to have it turned off. Unfortunately, mine is a '96, and the only way to have it turned off is to go to the dealer, or to buy the expensive machine myself (>$250). Fortunately for you, there is a way to reset the light on a '95 manually if you become impatient. If there is really something wrong, the light will come back on, right? I can't remember where I saw the technique to reset the light, but keep checking message boards, and you'll stumble across it like I did. I've not heard that the light will reset itself, but sounds like it's worth a few weeks' wait before turning it off yourself...

Good luck!
