Hot start stuttering 2000 xc70 V70-XC70 2000

Hi all, i have had a problem with starting my 2000 xc when the motor is hot/warm. It starts right up when cold or if i start it withing a couple of minutes of turning it off, but if it sits for say 10 min or longer it will take at least two tries to start . first try- it cranks and feels like it will start but then immediately stutters and dies, second try it usually starts but then shakes slightly and stutters for a second or two and then levels out. i have replaced all plugs recently and once the car starts, it runs smooth..

my old volvo mechanic told me that there was a recall on a fuel line check valve near the fuel tank, and this car may not have received the recall service. this i find hard to believe as the carfax slip reported dealer service at regular intervals up to 100k.

i may also mention that the car runs better(smoother) when the motor is cold it feels slightly rougher once it is warmed up

not sure where to go from here and its making it difficult to deliver pizzas please help... any advice always appreciated...
thanks
