Heat S80

I have a 2001 S80 and just this past week the heat will only come on warm when I turn the temperature knobs up past 80 degrees. The light the shows the controls is also out on the passenger side. I am under warranty but have a $200 deductible and am not a mechanic so I am just wondering if this problem sounds like something worth bringing in to Volvo for repair or should I bring it to a less expensive mechanic and just suck up the cost. OR...the third option is if there are any suggestions as to what I can try myself before taking it anywhere.
Thanks!
