front wheels "locked' 850 1996

Ok so this car 1996 glt wagon "died" on the road with a loud thump , now it wont start , engine wont turn ,starter "spins" however when I towed to my house , on the way over the front wheels locked as if it had the brake on or something , now they are totally lockedand can not push it!! any ideas there??
