850 dash removal 850

C,

Nope. Have to pull the entire dash out.

Great write-up on Matthew's Volvo Site.

Been there--done that. IMO the reason that the mounts break is that the felt compresses over time and no longer provides shock absorption. Truck like ride + rigid ABS plastic set on metal firewall + temp extremes = broken mounts.

Best fix is to remold with a product called PlastiMend. This is an ABS + MEK solution that chemically fuses the pieces together.

Then, use a high density THIN foam under the felt to provide shock absorption. I used the stuff that goes between a truck bed and camper top. There are 4 contact areas stamped into the firewall where you apply the foam.

Let me know if you need more information or assistance.

Bryan
