Interior lights when door open question V70-XC70 1998

Unless the door stop strap has rubbed against the wire, it has nothing to do with the interior lights. The lights are controlled by a micro switch inside the lock. You can see this switch at the latch mechanism on the door.

A small black piece of metal that gets pushed by the latch on the B pillar when the door closes. To release the latch, pull on either the inside or outside door handle. I suggest that the door doews not close completely, causing the switch to not trip. Adjust the latch, either on the door or the B pillar so it closes firmly.

Replace the door strap soon...
