On both my 03 V70 and 05 S80 it works like this:

Turn the key to Pos I.
Push in on the odometer reset button and hold it in.
While holding the odometer reset button in, turn the key to Pos II.
(Keep holding the odo button in.)
In a few seconds the little triangular message warning light will start to flash.
Immediatelly release the button and turn the key off.
The next time you start the engine there should be no more service message.
