oil consumption S60 2001

Dutch,

I know it defies all logic....and the current oil you have been using has been fine for the past few years but perhaps try a different brew. I am running Mobil 1 0W40 right now and have zero burn off off oil, recent change has 4000k on it and its spot on. Its a great oil from my experience in not only my current S60, but also the 98 V70XC I had. Can be found at Walmart at decent prices.... Some of the oil forums such as BITOG have users who speak very highly of it, some are a little turned off as it seemingly shears to a 30 weight (but thickens as time goes on) - regardless the 30 is perfect for our engines.

I see you have indicated 0W30, I believe M1 has a brew of this, but you may also instead try German Castrol 0W30 - found typically at Autozone. Again has great specs, seems to be closer to a 40 weight at operating temp, way to tell the difference is when you are at Autozone make sure the bottle says Made in Germany.

Just some 2 cents, perhaps wait until the next change and get your money's worth of what you have put in. .....not that it is happening, but I have heard stories of places "putting Mobil 1 in" and charging you for it but running the regular barrel brew. Not making any insinuations, but if you don't change yourself perhaps you may find an indie shop that will allow you to bring your oil/filter in and watch them pour it in - if you were so inclined....rather than waiting patiently in the customer service area.

Best,
Steve
