Steve, thanks for your advice

You say "..I am running Mobil 1 0W40 right now and have zero burn off off oil.."
Does this mean you that with a thinner (summer) oil you did burn oil and after changing to OW40 the burning stopped?
Btw, there always is some burning. If the level stays constant "for ever" their could be minuscule amounts of petrol or water mixing in the oil. I think 1L on about 10k km is perfectly normal.
