Starting Problem on 2001 V70 V70-XC70 2001

Turns out the problem is a bad starter which damaged the flywheel. The local Volvo dealer said the flywheel is "chewed up" and has to be replaced at a cost of $1400. I had a similar problem on my 2000 V70 and a new starter fixed it before the flywheel got damaged. The previous owner of this car let it go too long.
