Climate Control Woes 850 1996

I am here to appeal for help again with my ailing 850 turbo sedan. Intermitantly, the climate control will blow REALLY hot air when set at 72 degrees. Not just 72, but all in the dial except for the extreme hot and cold settings. Placing the control at, say, 65 degrees makes no difference than any othe setting. To me, it seems that the air conditioner is not coming on unless placed to the extreme cold setting. Any suggestions or comments? Could it be a temp. sensor? What about that little blinking dealy on top of the dash? Any suggestions are very appreciated!

Thanks,

Rade
