head gasket replacement 850

You are in a pickle. The alternator is in the way of the the bracket. It is easier to remove that then re-do your head with new expensive bolts. Your timing belt and serp belt are off anyway.

As for timing, I assume the crank is lined up to the mark. So just line up the cams and put the belt on. If you did every thing properly according to Haynes, then the cams should be lined up right now.

Before you put the plugs in and after the belt is on with the tensioner released, crank the engine by hand 720 degrees and make sure there is no resistance. If you have a problem going past a certain point, STOP because the cams are out of alignment.
