Engine stalls upon starting V70-XC70 2004

I'll take another look at the fuel filter just to make sure it is facing the right direction. I'm 90% sure it is correct. The raised flange is engaged in the cut out in the fuel filter bracket, which leads me to think it is in correctly. But, a another visual check would not hurt.

I never had to let the fuel pump prime the system in key position II before. So, something has changed.
