Adjustable dampers replacement S60 2005

Hello,

The struts in my S60 R are totally shot, they are the adjustable kind with "comfort, sport and advanced" settings. The struts have a wire harness and this is how they are controlled. Replacements are very expensive, I mean very. So here is my question:

Can I replace with a regular strut and jumper the wiring harness plug so that I don't get a check engine light?
