Noise when torque converter locks/unlocks V70-XC70 1998

Just took delivery of a beautiful Black '98 XC AWD with just 21,500 miles. There seems to be a noise, like gear slipage, when the torgue converter locks and unlocks. I have taken the car from NJ to Maine and back and put almost 2,000 miles on in the three weeks I have had the car and it happens each time. There are no other problems with shifting, save perhaps some rough shifting if the wrong peddle pressure is used. I will soon take the car back to the dealer, but would like to know if anyone has experience with this difficulty before I talk with them.
