Another Wheel Bearing Question..... 850 95 T-5R

Quick Question: How do you know if you have bad wheel bearings? I still have some kind of pulsing scraping sound when I brake and when I lean the car or turn to the right. it only comes when the steering wheel is towards the right or braking, so I figured it's either the brakes or something else. So, could the something else be wheel bearings? I thought I read somewhere that the bearings are self maintaining and don't need to be touched. How true is that? Thanks everyone?

Alex
