another CD changer question 850 1995

Thanks to Prospero, my CD changer is back in operation. Something I noticed, though, when comparing the CD changers on my 2 850's is that the "shock cushion" underneath the mechanism that receives the cartridge is deflated on one. I have noticed that this player skips much more frequently than the one in my T5-R (cushion is OK in its changer). Does anyone know whether the cushion can be replaced to eliminate skipping/damage to the optical components? Thanks.
