Selling your piece of junk to an unsuspecting person for $4K is highway robbery!!

Before the Bush Republicians changed things, you could have donated to a charity and written off $4K on your taxes. But, too bad, you can only deduct the actual auction price that the charity gets - about $1200. And if you hit the AMT next year, you won't even get to deduct that!
