no start S60 S60

I watched a video done by a locksmith for a volvo ignition. I seen the little pin and spring piece that I found. He removed it from underneath a metal cap that was difficult to remove. How it came it on mine is a mystery.

So I'm gonna try taking the electrical part of the switch off and work it with a screwdriver and see what happens. If I have read correctly, I can replace the switch and immobilizer ring with no software downloads or programming. The other part is if I have to get a new key cylinder I will need to have new keys made to match my VIN number, is that correct?

This no start stuff is a real pain! Thanks for the response and help Klaus!
