knuckle bolts ....Caution note! V70-XC70 2004

About those bolts to the steering knuckle, I did replace them when I swapped out the struts. I was told to torque them to 54 ft/pds and I did but I found that at about 52 pds, the bolts started to twist and then they broke and these were the dealership ones at $4.25 each. I would stop tightening at 48-50 pds or else you will begin to feel the bolts needing to be tightened some more when they are actually stretching and twisting.

Bilstein Heavy Duty are a good choice. Yes, they will feel every pebble on the road but they will be amazingly stable at highway speed with your entire family or group of friends on board. I just carried a 340 pound woodstove on the interstate and they held stable in a very nice way with 45k miles on them
