blower motor mystery S70 2000

Have been having intermittent functioning of the blower motor. Took out the cabin temp sensor and blew out the fluff with canned air. The little sensor fan turns freely. The blower fan responded to controls at first, but when everything was back together there was no fan response. The servos seem to be responding on all the different settings, the orange fault flash occurs when the cabin temp sensor is disconnected and stop when it's reconnected, and even with the car warmed up, the fan doesn't come on. I don't recall exactly what was set where when the fan worked. When it did, it responded to speed controls just fine, but now, nothing. What am I missing? Could I have damaged the sensor fan by overspinning it with the compressed air? If not, what's the next right thing to do?
