P0440 and P0455 Codes 850

Hi:
Thanks for all the earlier help!
Does anyone know the specific meaning of Codes P0440 and P0455, please? (In other words, though the code reader description is added below, I have no idea of what parts are involved.) Can one of these be attributed to a bad seal on a gas cap, or is that just wishful thinking?

The P0440 code says: "Generic" and then "Evaporative Emission System"

The P0455 says: "Generic" and then "Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (gross leak/no flow)

Thanks so much! (We saved our 1997 850 by driving it to the LIRR overpass in the Oil City section of Oceanside, NY. Otherwise, it would have been a submarine. Our house is a total loss, though.)
